Green Cleaners

What is Green Cleaning?

Green cleaning is a cleaning method that protects your health as well as preserving the environment.  This approach covers all aspects of cleaning such as chemicals, paper products, dilution system, matting system, machinery and techniques.

Green Cleaning is a way to clean just as effectively without the use of chemicals that harm people and the environment by replacing chemical products with more eco-friendly products.

Goals of Green

  • Protect Health
  • Show that cleaning is about more than aesthetics
  • Green CleaningBe less hazardous to the environment than traditional cleaning
  • Reduce the total number of chemicals needed in a facility
  • Reduce the waste of paper products
  • Increase indoor air quality through equipment

Green Cleaning Products

A green cleaning product has a low percentage of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC’s) which contribute to poor indoor air quality and illness. It is readily biodegradable, produced from renewable resources and is low in toxicity.

A green cleaning product:

  • Has a pH between 4 and 11
  • Contains no known or suspected carcinogens
  • Leaves little or no residue
  • Can be diluted with cold water
  • Reduces injuries and illnesses

Green Techniques

Green cleaning isn’t just about chemicals.

  • Microfibre cloths and mops attract dust, use little or no water and are light weight.
  • Dilution systems insure only the amount of chemical needed is used and prevent using too much or too little.
  • Matting systems capture dirt at the door and reduce wear and tear throughout the building.

Why Go Green?

Creates a better work environment

  • Studies have shown reduced absenteeism and improved productivity.
  • Using an environmentally friendly cleaning system creates a better work environment and removes perfumes from the chemicals keeping the buildings air fresher.
  • Employees prefer working in healthy buildings. Employees are happier knowing that the company they work for is looking out for their best interests and are likely to stay longer.

Reduces waste to the landfill by

  • The use of paper dispensers that dispense “one at a time” thereby reducing the total paper used in a facility;
  • Packaging chemicals in recyclable containers.

Reduces health problems

  • Traditional chemicals can harm sensitive employees, causing sickness;
  • Improved indoor air quality.

Decreases water, energy and chemical use

  • Most green cleaning chemicals are formulated for use in cold water, reducing energy requirements;
  • Dispensing systems mix the precise amount of chemical required, reducing chemical use vs. free pouring;
  • Green products, like microfibre, work more efficiently, reducing water requirements.

Economic Benefits

  • Most of the chemicals are cost neutral;
  • Many of the green chemicals are multipurpose so fewer overall chemicals are needed;
  • Overall health, productivity and facility benefits add up to economic gains.

Extends lifespan of building features

  • Cleans hard floors and carpets gently but just as effectively, prolonging their lifespan.
